The St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society Alliance serves the community through health education, charitable projects, and legislative advocacy. Our members include physician spouses, medical residents, medical students and friends and family of physicians. Current co-presidents for the 2016-17 year are Gill Waltman and Sandra Murdock.
We invite you to join us!
Alliance activities include:
• Health Education. Alliance members present several health education programs in local schools: Smoking Is Not For Me, Stop America’s Violence Everywhere (SAVE) Hands Are Not for Hitting, and the Internet safety programs Faux Paus.
• Charitable Projects. A Voices of Excellence speaking contest for students at Loyola Academy of St. Louis challenges middle school students to improve their public speaking skills. The Alliance also raises funds at various events throughout the year and donates to nonprofit agencies such as St. Martha’s Hall, Nurses for Newborns, Marian Middle School and others, and provides scholarships for medical students.
• Legislative Advocacy. Each February, Alliance members join with the Missouri State Medical Association Alliance for an advocacy day at the Missouri State Capitol. Members contact legislators on issues supported in the MSMA legislative agenda. They also gain insight into the legislative process.
Alliance members participate in MSMA Alliance state conferences which provide leadership development and education opportunities. Fundraising events of the Alliance include the Holiday Sharing Card and various special events throughout the year.
Help make a difference for the community through the Alliance!
