ST. LOUIS – Stephen G. Slocum, MD has been elected
2007 president of the St. Louis Metropolitan Medical
Society, the association representing physicians
in the St. Louis area. Dr. Slocum is an ophthalmologist
in private practice.
Other 2007 officers elected include George J. Hruza,
MD, as president-elect; Elie C. Azrak, MD, as vice
president; and Jay L. Meyer, MD, as secretary.
Elected to three-year terms as Councilors are: David
K. Bean, DO; David E. Bryan, MD; Norman S. Druck,
MD; Thomas R. Forget, MD; Robert McMahon, MD; and
Ata U. Siddiqui, MD.
Dr. Slocum is a partner in West County Ophthalmology,
Inc., with offices in Chesterfield, Richmond Heights
and WingHaven. He holds his medical degree from
Saint Louis University and is certified by the American
Board of Ophthalmology.
Active in organized medicine at the state and national
levels, Dr. Slocum is past president of the Missouri
Ophthalmological Society and has been a member of
the state board of councilors since 1989. He is
a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology
where he has chaired various committees and served
on the Secretariat for State Affairs. He has been
a councilor of the Missouri State Medical Association
since 2002. He also is a fellow of the American
College of Surgeons.
A resident of Chesterfield, Dr. Slocum is married
and has three grown children.
Founded in 1835, the St. Louis Metropolitan Medical
Society represents medical and osteopathic physicians
in St. Louis city and county, and works closely
with the Missouri State Medical Association and
the American Medical Association in promoting the
principles of medical ethics and protecting the
patient-physician relationship.
