Membership
The St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society membership
includes primary care and specialists in all medical
specialties and subspecialties in a broad array
of practice settings.
Throughout the years, SLMMS has played an important
role in bringing together groups of doctors by specialty
and assisting in the formation of specialty societies,
through which much of the scientific progress of
the medical profession has been accomplished.
Female physicians comprise approximately 10 percent
of SLMMS membership, reflecting not only the growing
number of women in the medical profession, but the
Societys active role in encouraging the participation
of women. Carol Williams, MD, served as the first
SLMMS female president in 1986 and K. Lynne Moritz,
MD, as the second in 1998.
